HOME WHO WE ARE WHAT WE DO CONTACT US AUDIO ARCHIVES

The professionals who work with TRN fall into various categories, with some able to cover several tasks

Radio reporters … TRN’s original work was in radio – hence the name – so its core professional is a radio reporter who can do voiced reports, send audio of players in packaged sound bite size with cue material, conduct interviews with players and officials, and record and edit ready-made radio shows for internet use and podcasting. Some of our reporters can now provide video material, where rights allow them to.

Television commentators (lead) … We have a number of experienced commentators who can perform the lead or ‘anchor’ role on television, whether working on site or in studios.

Television commentators (colour) … TRN’s contacts book also boasts a number of people who can offer in-depth analysis of matches as they unfold, and thus can perform the ‘colour’ or summariser role. These are mostly ex-players, but occasionally experienced tennis watchers who can offer a different slant than an ex-player would provide.

Television commentators (solo) … Sometimes a television station would like to use solo commentators, people who can do both anchor and colour roles on their own. TRN has access to a number of people who can perform this dual-function.

Radio commentators … The concept of the breathless, descriptive radio commentary of tennis matches has enjoyed something of a revival with the internet, but it is a highly specialised task which requires a fair degree of practice and verbal dexterity. The world’s most experienced descriptive radio commentators all have links with TRN.

Interviewers … The art of the on-court or studio interviewer is severely underestimated – because those who do it well make it look easy! TRN has a number of experienced and natural interviewers on its books.

On-court announcers … There are very few tournaments without a master of ceremonies or announcer, whether on-court with a microphone or off-court and making unseen announcements through a loudspeaker system. Again, the job is harder than it looks, but TRN knows the good ones and how to get hold of them!

Writers … While TRN specialises mostly in broadcast coverage of tennis, many of its associates are high-quality writers, some with a strong journalistic pedigree, others who have written several books (often both).

Tournament media managers ... Among our contacts we have people who have been press officers and general media managers at top-level tour events, dealing with everything from facilities set-up and accreditation to the day-to-day running of media rooms.

After dinner speakers … The best tennis dinners are crowned by a witty after dinner speaker who can recall a mixture of amusing and insightful anecdotes to leave people feeling they have had a great evening. TRN knows the right person for the right occasion.
